Pradosh Calendar 2025

Pradosh Vrat is a bi-monthly fasting day dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is observed on the 13th day (Trayodashi) of both lunar fortnights. Worshiping Lord Shiva during the twilight (Pradosh Kaal) on this day destroys sins and bestows moksha.

Why Observe Pradosh Vrat?

According to the Skanda Purana, worshiping Lord Shiva during the Pradosham time (sunset) cleanses the devotee of sins and helps them attain prosperity and peace. It is believed that during this time, Lord Shiva performs the Tandava Nritya on Mount Kailash.

Fasting Rules

  • Nirjala: Strict fasting without water is observed by some.
  • Phalahar: Consuming fruits and milk is permitted.
  • Breaking the Fast: The fast is broken after performing the evening Puja and looking at the moon.
