श्रेयो हि ज्ञानमभ्यासाज्ज्ञानाद्ध्यानं विशिष्यते |
ध्यानात्कर्मफलत्यागस्त्यागाच्छान्तिरनन्तरम् || 12
śhreyo hi jñānam abhyāsāj jñānād dhyānaṁ viśhiṣhyate
dhyānāt karma-phala-tyāgas tyāgāch chhāntir anantaram

भावार्थ:
र्म को न जानकर किए हुए अभ्यास से ज्ञान श्रेष्ठ है, ज्ञान से मुझ परमेश्वर के स्वरूप का ध्यान श्रेष्ठ है और ध्यान से सब कर्मों के फल का त्याग (केवल भगवदर्थ कर्म करने वाले पुरुष का भगवान में प्रेम और श्रद्धा तथा भगवान का चिन्तन भी बना रहता है, इसलिए ध्यान से ‘कर्मफल का त्याग’ श्रेष्ठ कहा है) श्रेष्ठ है, क्योंकि त्याग से तत्काल ही परम शान्ति होती है॥12॥
Translation
Better than mechanical practice is knowledge; better than knowledge is meditation. Better than meditation is renunciation of the fruits of actions, for peace immediately follows such renunciation.
