The Dimapur Kalibari is a sacred abode of Goddess Kali in her fierce form (Rudra Rupa), also worshipped as Kamalasagar Kali due to its location. The primary deity is a powerful sandstone murti that blends aspects of both Durga and Kali. Devotees believe worshipping here grants:
Protection from negative energies (Shatru Nasha)
Liberation from cycles of fear (Bhaya Mukti)
Resolution of ancestral karma (Pitra Dosh Shanti)
Historical Origins & Scriptural Legend
Rebuilt in 1956 by devotees J.C. Das and M.M.Mazumder, the temple claims roots in a 17th-century structure. Tradition holds that this site was blessed by wandering tantric saints who recognized its potent energy.
According to temple records, the present murti was installed during a special Kali Puja in 1956 with Vedic rites. The nearby Kamalasagar Lake, dug by King Dhanya Manikya in the 15th century, is considered spiritually charged.
