sattvaṁ sukhe sañjayati rajaḥ karmaṇi bhārata
jñānam āvṛitya tu tamaḥ pramāde sañjayaty uta

भावार्थ:
हे अर्जुन! सत्त्वगुण सुख में लगाता है और रजोगुण कर्म में तथा तमोगुण तो ज्ञान को ढँककर प्रमाद में भी लगाता है॥9॥
Translation
Sattva binds one to material happiness; rajas conditions the soul toward actions; and tamas clouds wisdom and binds one to delusion.
