Jajpur, Odisha: A colossal 123-foot-tall statue of Lord Shiva is poised to become the centerpiece of Jajpur’s skyline as it gets ready for inauguration on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri on March 8, according to officials. This magnificent sculpture is taking shape near the Barahanath temple, nestled along the serene banks of the Baitarani river, as part of the Baraha Khetra development initiative.
Elevating Spirituality and Tourism
Visitors will be treated to a spiritual spectacle with the option to ascend and witness the divine statue through either a lift or a staircase. Additionally, they can relish a panoramic view of the Baitarani riverfront from the elevated vantage point, as revealed by an official closely associated with the undertaking.
The brainchild of a private art organization based in New Delhi, the construction of this awe-inspiring Shiva statue aims to add a touch of divinity to the region and contribute to the ongoing Baraha Khetra development project.
Beyond the Statue: A Haven for Tourists
This monumental endeavor doesn’t stop at the Shiva statue. A picturesque park and a captivating water fountain are in the works, designed to enchant tourists. An adjacent rest house is also on the horizon, providing a comfortable abode for devotees making the pilgrimage to Baraha Khetra, the official further disclosed.
“The presence of this statue on the sacred banks of the Baitarani river will undoubtedly elevate the district’s tourism profile,” remarked local resident Debadutta Mishra, highlighting the potential boost this architectural marvel brings to Odisha’s tourism sector.
Jajpur, with its treasure trove of attractions including the Dashwamedha Ghat, Baraha temple, Baruni Ghat, and Maa Biraja temple, stands as a testament to its significant tourism potential. These landmarks consistently draw tourists seeking spiritual solace and cultural enrichment to this vibrant region.
As the 123-foot-tall Shiva statue nears completion, Jajpur eagerly anticipates the surge in visitors during Mahashivratri, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the district’s tourism narrative. With the perfect blend of spirituality and scenic beauty, this ambitious project aspires to make Jajpur an even more enchanting destination for travelers seeking a harmonious blend of the divine and the picturesque.
