मच्चित्त: सर्वदुर्गाणि मत्प्रसादात्तरिष्यसि |
अथ चेत्वमहङ्कारान्न श्रोष्यसि विनङ्क्ष्यसि ||
mach-chittaḥ sarva-durgāṇi mat-prasādāt tariṣhyasi
atha chet tvam ahankārān na śhroṣhyasi vinaṅkṣhyasi
भावार्थ:
उपर्युक्त प्रकार से मुझमें चित्तवाला होकर तू मेरी कृपा से समस्त संकटों को अनायास ही पार कर जाएगा और यदि अहंकार के कारण मेरे वचनों को न सुनेगा तो नष्ट हो जाएगा अर्थात परमार्थ से भ्रष्ट हो जाएगा॥58॥
Translation
If you remember me always, by my grace you will overcome all obstacles and difficulties. But if, due to pride, you do not listen to my advice, you will perish.
English Translation Of Sri Shankaracharya’s Sanskrit Commentary By Swami Gambirananda
18.58 Maccittah, having your mind fixed on Me; tarisyasi, you will cross over; sarva-durgani, alldifficulties, all cuases of transmigration which are difficult to overcome; mat-prasadat, through My grace. Atha cet, if, on the other hand; tvam, you; na srosyasi, will not listen to, will not accept, My words; ahankarat, out of egotism, thinking ‘I am learned’; then vinanksyasi, you will get destroyed, will court ruin.
And this should not be thought of by you-‘I am independent. Why should I follow another’s bidding?’
