अनाश्रित: कर्मफलं कार्यं कर्म करोति य: |
स संन्यासी च योगी च न निरग्निर्न चाक्रिय: || 1||
śhrī bhagavān uvācha
anāśhritaḥ karma-phalaṁ kāryaṁ karma karoti yaḥ
sa sannyāsī cha yogī cha na niragnir na chākriyaḥ

भावार्थ:
श्री भगवान बोले- जो पुरुष कर्मफल का आश्रय न लेकर करने योग्य कर्म करता है, वह संन्यासी तथा योगी है और केवल अग्नि का त्याग करने वाला संन्यासी नहीं है तथा केवल क्रियाओं का त्याग करने वाला योगी नहीं है॥1॥
Translation
The Supreme Lord said: Those who perform prescribed duties without desiring the results of their actions are actual sanyāsīs (renunciates) and yogis, not those who have merely ceased performing sacrifices such as agni-hotra yajña or abandoned bodily activities.
