HARIVARASANAM

HARIVARASANAM

This is an Ashtakam (poem having eight stanzas) sung in front of the Lord at Sabarimala by the priest just before the closing of the Srikovil after Athazhapooja (the final pooja of a day) and Sribhootabali. It is believed that the Lord is being attended to by by the devas during this time. Devotees believe that Lord Ayyappa is lulled to sleep by the Harivarasanam song.

The author of this poem is konnakathu janaki amma. It was first sung at the Sannidhanam by Swami Vinochamandale. It is believed that the daily chanting of this Ashtakam brings four-fold prosperity and fulfilment of all desires.
